  1. Sounds like the purple one is too harsh on his stomach. I’d say stick with the green can. 🙂

  2. the formula are probably made with a different form of protein – either whey or soy. Or it is broken down differently. Some formulas have the protein broken down into smaller particles – some babies find this easier to digest. Also sometimes the added dha and ara can cause babies to throw up – so one of these the green can may not have that in it.
Those are just some different reasons that i came up with.

  3. My baby drinks the one in the orange can. She burps up a lot on it, though…I’m not sure if it’s the formula or just the fact that most babies spit up and burp, and even kind of ‘vomit’ some formula. I think mine drinks too fast, and gets too much air, even with the Playtex DropIns.

  4. My daughter spit up all the time on the Nestle Good Start so we switched her to Enfamil Gentlease and she does great on that.

  5. My son threw up a lot on the Nestle GoodStart Soy formula. Turned out there was something in that formula that just didn’t agree with his little tummy. There could be several reasons as to why he is throwing up. He could have reflux if it has been a consistent throwing up since he has been born or it could just be there is some little variant in the formula that doesn’t agree with him and he might need a slight switch to a different type of that formula (such as the green can instead of the purple can). I would say, if he does well on the Green and you like Nestle formula- stick with that one.

  6. I had my son on the Good Start with DHA/ARA (orange can) in the hospital and when he came home. He never took to it right. He had diarrhea and threw up all the time. He was also fussy. So I tried GS Natural Cultures (green can) and same thing there. Then tried GS Soy, and same thing. So I was told from my doctor that he may not tolerate DHA/ARA, which is in all the ones I tried so I was told to try the regular GS Supreme (purple can) and he is a happy baby now.

Don’t know why your son took to GS Natural Cultures than the regular GS because the GS Natural Cultures is the same as the purple can but it has BIFIDUS BL probiotics which does help with digestion.

Now I heard at the WIC office and doctors that there has been a lot of reports of babies who will not tolerate DHA/ARA because it can be harsh on there tummies. There are some debate also on how it is derived and from what. I think parents need to do a little research before they just allow a doctor to say its reflux, or lactose or something else.
