Thinking of formula feeding my baby your ideas?

I am 18 currently having my first baby, I am 33 weeks along and very excited about it all =] but I don’t really like the fact of breast feeding. I have agreed to breast feed for the first 3 days so she can get the colostrum that helps with their immune system. I was brought up on formula from day dot and I don’t see anything really wrong with it, I know many people say its bonding with your child… But I also see its bonding for my partner with hes own child if I bottle feed as he is never home and works 3 jobs I just think its something special for him to experience when hes come home from a long day at work =] I know how a mother feels when shes breast feeding her own baby its wonderful but like my partner would feel the same… My mum agrees with me but hes parents don’t and that’s hard for me to accept but my boyfriend likes the idea of me bottle feeding so he can have time to bond with hes daughter and experience everything a woman does with their child… Sorry if that’s long, just wondering what you think about all of this =] thanks guys xo

  1. Honestly, ignoring health and all, breastfeeding is the cheapest thing you can do. It cost me up to 200 a month to feed my kid. And it is healthier, less likely to cause ear infections, and it will help the immune system. Oh, and pumping will aid in the bottle feeding thing. In fact, the first 3 months I breastfed, most of it was pumped.

  2. Why not do both? I did with all 3 of my sons. I breastfed, but if someone else was feeding him he had a bottle. It’s WAY cheaper to breastfeed (formula is insanely expensive) and it really is the most amazing feeling in the world! But on the other hand, it is nice to be able to take a break and let someone else feed the baby!

  3. i think im only going to breast feed for the first few weeks, but i might also get a pump, because i also want my boyfriend to be able to bond with our child. in the same ways….

  4. If you pump your bf can still feed the baby. He will never xperience all the things you will. You’re the mother. Breatsfeed, it’s cheap and it’s the best thing for your baby. The first days will hurt but if it’s to painful, use a pump

  5. I think it’s fine. You are the mom and you need to decide what you want to do with your baby. breastfeeding or Bottle feeding are YOUR options not your mother in law’s.
I agree that it would be bonding with your partner, when he’s feeding his daughter.
I wanted to breasfeed my oldest daughter but due to health reasons I coldnt do it for more than a couple of months, so then formula. And my husband was able to help and seeing the look on his face when he had that opportunity to bond with his little girl it was priceless. 🙂
My daughter is now 5 1/2 and a perfectly healthy and smart little girl.
So do what you and your boyfriend think it’s right, dont give a second thought about what your Mother in law says.
There will be many things that people wont agree with in terms of your parenting in general you just have to let them know that you’re the mother and you’ll do what YOU think is right for your child.

    Good Luck!
